Addison's Walk

Having done some investigating on the web about where we might attend a Sunday worship service, we were delighted to find an Evangelical Free Church nearby. It seems that Magdalen Road Church had outgrown their church building and are now meeting in the local elementary school --and that school is about 50 yards down Meadow Lane from us! They were warm and welcoming-- a great congregation with a wonderful mix of ages and we felt very at home there. We chatted with the pastor on our way out-- I suspect we will go back next Sunday.

We spent a sunny afternoon walking the path at Magdalen College (one of the 39 colleges that comprise Oxford University) called Addison's Walk. The gardens at the beginning of the nature walk are in their their glory right now.

The walk takes you along the River Cherwell where we spent a fair amount of time watching people out punting-- some people are definitely better at this than others! This photo was taken at the landing, where it was amusing to see everyone trying to navigate around one another.

To celebrate our anniversary, we stopped at the Mirch Masala , an Indian restaurant in our neighborhood and enjoyed their Sunday buffet. Another fun day in Oxford.

Sounds like a really busy & fun time – I have enjoyed reading the blog and must admit to feeling mildly ‘home-sick’ despite only ever having been to Oxford 3 times. I look forward to reading more and looking for signs of further assimilation – I am impressed so far (especially with the cheese sandwiches in the Norman Church!) but hope for some punting, riding of bikes, tea addiction, and evidence of following either EastEnders or Corrie [use of the Oxford comma intentional].
Tudiloo,
Rachel.
PS: congrats on the engagement news!
